Review - Fountain Pen

Hey friends,

If you've never heard of a fountain pen, it's just a really fancy pen.

I tried one back in my uni days and paid 50 dollarydoos for it. My logic was to incentivise myself into writing notes and studying more after investing so much money into it. It actually kinda worked, but did not reflect in my grades 🥲.

Writing with a fountain pen definitely felt different to writing with a normal pen. It felt like I was writing with a bit of spice. $10 worth of spice. Not $50.

You'd think the $50 investment ends there, but it doesn't. Fountain pens are so posh that they require their own special paper. Without the use of special paper, fountain pen ink is heavy enough that it bleeds through to the other side of the page. There are people arguing about which paper is best while I'm still trying to figure out how to stop investing more money into it.

Fountain pens are also meant to receive regular maintenance to stay in peak performance. The only maintenance my fountain pen is receiving is downtime maintenance.

Overall, I don't recommend fountain pens. Whilst I am critical, the experience you gain from trying one is priceless.

Keep well and stay swell~
